Local resident, Kathe Sobczak, President of Frankford Northeast Philadelphia Rotary, was as surprised as everyone present when Rotary District 7450 Governor Peter Mardinly presented a Governor’s Citation to her during his official on Tuesday, January 21st, 2020.  The award is rarely presented to a sitting president, but the Governor did this in recognition of her outstanding leadership within the club and service to the district.  Her accomplishments span Rotary’s 5 service areas: community, international, vocational, club, and youth.  Kathe led the club to receive a district Literacy Award twice, traveled to Haiti on two international service projects, has networked locally to identify community needs, and shares her passion for service to all who will listen.  On February 25th, she will greet everyone interested in Rotary to the club’s first Minglefest at Maggie’s Waterfront Cafe.  The club will collect canned goods for the needy and invites those who attend to bring canned goods to donate.
